'Pleasures and Pastimes'

Join us for a lighthearted 45-minute program of secular English vocal and instrumental music of the Renaissance and Baroque eras.

Vocal selections include Henry VIII's 'Pastime with Good Company', popular songs by Thomas Ravenscroft, songs in praise of tobacco by Hume, Weelkes, and East, plus 'Bring Us a Barrel' and Purcell's 'Strike the Viol.' Instrumental music includes Renaissance dances by Dowland and Brade, and a Telemann sonata for two recorders and continuo. Camerata members will sing and perform on recorders, crumhorns, cornamuse, shawm, rankett, sackbut, viola da gamba, harpsichord, crotales (chimes), and percussion.

This is Camerata California's seventh appearance on the St. Luke's Church Evensong Concert Series.
